Typically, a patient can make a call by either pressing a feather touch key on the calling unit or using the bed’s palm switch.

This will activate all three indicators: the one on the calling unit, the amber door indicator, and the window on the Nurse Station Monitor dedicated to that particular calling unit, all of which will begin to flash.

Additionally, the voice announcement "Attention Bed Call" will repeat continuously.

Pressing the "Mute" button on the Nurse Call Processor at the Nurse Station or the "Care" button on the Room Unit in the patient’s room will silence the voice, and the previously flashing indicators will change to a steady state, signaling acknowledgment of the call. If the "Care" button is pressed directly or after the "Mute" button on the Nurse Station, it will indicate on the nurse station monitor that a nurse is attending to the patient (the Room Symbol will display NURSING Status, and the Door Indicator will turn green to show care is being provided).

Beyond this standard call, there are two other significant calls: the toilet call and Code Blue, which can also be initiated from a patient’s room.

When a toilet call is made through the toilet calling unit, it follows the same process as a standard call, except that the nurse station monitor will display a "Room Symbol with LED Status," and a distinct voice will announce "Emergency Toilet Call " It’s also important to note that the Door Indicator will flash more rapidly in red.
